What is the annual charge? top

An annual charge is your contribution to insurance, maintenance, marine surveys, painting, engine servicing, electrical repairs, storage, berthing, radio licence fees, on going booking and administration costs.
Anual charges and membership fees can be linked with monthly payments using our easy pay system

Why do I pay for engine hours? top

Some people will use more engine time than others, a nominal hourly rate is charged which will cover fuel and the cost of refeuling . This provides a fair way to cover the cost of mechanical running expences , without penalising those who use significantly less engine time.

How does the booking system work? top

The Boat Share International system is designed for hassle free access to your vessel. Made as flexible as possible, members will have 24 hour access to a website booking system and a member pin number.

Available bookings can be viewed on your computer in the comfort of your own home or office. When the desired days for use are selected you can simply book them on the spot. Flexibility is the key, with members able to book on impulse for use of a vessel the next day, should they suddenly have the urge.

How far can the vessel be taken? top

Although all vessels will be in safe ship management as directed by the Marine Safety Authority, the vessels may be restricted geographically, in their locations. However. These restrictions will be in place simply because of danger zones and distance.

Do I have any ownership of the vessel? top

No! Ownership is solely of Boat Share International. Flexibility is once again the key with members entering into a Charter agreement. Members will hold an agreement for three years.

What is the maximum commitment from me? top

Charter agreements are for three years. All agreements have an option to opt out should your circumstances change.

Circumstances change? top

Yes, our lives do change, due to family, health, business or financial requirements. In such circumstances we try to help by offering you the chance to opt out of your Charter Agreement, providing the arrears and costs are met and Boat Share International has someone on their waiting list to take up a new Charter agreement.

Is my Charter agreement tax deductible? top

Yes, it may be - depending on your circumstances and if you can use the vessel for legitimate business purposes, such as entertaining clients or prospective clients. (Refer with your financial advisor)

Can I share my Charter agreement with friends? top

Certainly - if two identities can share a Charter agreement, then their cost of enjoyable boating is even lower. However, the Charter agreement will be under one name and Boat Share International management must approve any Skipper. (Two skippers/operators licences may be allocated per charter agreement)

How much experience do I need? top

Boat Share International management will wish to assess skippers during a sea trial and basic training to confirm the Charter operators boating ability. Boat Share International will give further training or coaching where necessary.

How should I leave the boat after use? top

As the boats are used on a reasonably continuous basis, please leave it the way you found it. A good wash down to ensure the vessel is clean on deck and all equipment stowed. A cleaner can be employed at a small cost if you would rather not groom the interrior your self. Boat Share staff will top up the tanks with fuel and water and replace any of the on board supplies.

Who pays for damage? top

Normal wear and tear is the responsibility of the company. Negligent damage is the responsibility of the user. Your insurance bond (a zip zap of the old fashioned visa / master card docket is held in a safe place, so no actual money is transfered ) held by the company to cover any claims or minor repairs. All vessels are insured under a commercial charter vessel policy.

What is a Corporate Agreement? top

This is a system enabling a company or a small business to have a tailored yearly agreement. These days can be used for entertaining clients, staff or just as a getaway for the hard working and deserving businessperson of today. More than one Skipper/operator licence may be held.
